Another update review of Proton Exora, the new Proton MPV

Ok folks, here is the latest update for the coming Proton Exora , the new Proton MPV. Source from Prton said that the launching of this MPV will be postphoned to April. So folks, there you have it, a waiting time for another 1 months before the Proton MPV come to your town.

As usual the pictures are sourced from our blogger buddy from the motoring arena, Mr Paul Tan from Paultan.org.

Read below for the latest insight, articles from the famous motoring blogger Paultan.org.
Here below articles from Paul will be commented by me.

I bet you won't mind Paul, since the credit goes to you right buddy? ;P

Folks, here we go!

Paul says,

Proton Edar’s Proton Exora teaser page reveals how the Exora’s seats and seating configuration looks like. The seats are in the typical three-row MPV 2-3-2 order for 7 seats, and Proton claims them to be suitable for full adult seating.

I say,

Paul, the pictures look interesting enough with leather seats and full 7 seater for adult. Normally for other brands MPV the last 2 seats are suited for adult, that means adults will not be comfortable sitting there.

Paul says,
From the looks of it every seat (wrapped with leather) has its own headrest, and Proton says there are also individual air conditioning blowers for each row. From the details revealed at the Proton Technology Week, it is revealed that the dedicated air conditioning vents for the 2nd and 3rd rows will be located at the ceiling of the Proton Exora MPV.

I say,
Hmm.. it's nice to know that all seats come with headrest, different from other MPV, the middle seat on 2nd row usually have none. I think, it would be even nicer if the mid seat also have its own reclinable seat.

Wow! 2nd and 3rd row seat have its own air-con vent. Now Paul, this is totally superb!!Look folks, Honda Stream, Toyota Wish, Mazda MPV,Nissan Grand Livina come with no air-con vent for 2nd row seat, let alone 3rd row. Here in Malaysia with blazing, hot sun you if you seat at the back, you will normally sweat all over before the air-con cools the car cabin!

Toyota Avanza and Toyota Innova only have air-con vent for 2nd row seat.

Paul says,
The 2nd and 3rd row of the Proton Exora can also be folded in 6 flexible configurations, and it looks like the 2nd row’s middle seat can be folded down as an armrest. There will be a total of 10 cupholders in the MPV, which is more than 1 for each seat, so there should be more than enough space to keep one’s drinks on a road trip.

I say,
Its good that the 2nd row seat can be folded down as an arm rest, but I think it will be better if it can be folded to make way to the 3rd row seat like Mazda MPV and Toyota Alphard ( but Alphard is considered big MPV and spacious while Proton MPV is a mid-size MPV like Toyota Picnic alias Toyota Ipsum as known in Singapore. Toyota Avanza and Grand Livina is compact-size MPV)
10 cupholders is even nicer! each seat or each person in the MPV can have their hands free of drinking cup while reading books or magazine throuhout the trip. I would like mocha blended with all-day coffee in my road journey!!What would you like Paul? You see, those blend are quite tasty and the aroma is just fine with my taste bud.And of course i got the coffee bean from Jaya Jusco only at Tebrau City.!! ;-)

Paul says,
As previously revealed, the steering wheel will feature audio controls but there is no mention yet on what the phone button is for. The Proton Exora will have an overhead LCD player that can read VCDs and DVDs along with a variety of other storage devices such as devices using USB input, and a memory card slot that supports SD and MMC. This will likely be available only in the high spec model.

I say,
Paul, I guess the phone button on the steering wheel is some sort of mute button that you can press when answering a phone call, that's the simplest way I can think off.

If the Proton opts for more advance system, then the audio system might be integrated with bluetooth phone answering capabilities with your handphone or hand held devices.

Memory card slot like MMC and SD card would be great!!I guess USB slot should be installed in the system since USB pendrive is popular nowadays and widely used by peoples.

Paul says,
Speaking of specification levels, Proton has also revealed tentative prices for the Proton Exora on its booking page. The tentative pricing are RM 72,000 for the M-Line model with an automatic transmission, and RM 76,000 for the H-Line model with an automatic transmission. This is well under the RM 80,000 maximum figure previously quoted.

So far only prices for automatic transmission models have been revealed but if the automatic M-Line is 72K, a manual transmission M-Line could go under RM70k if Proton decides to make such a model available. But I feel manual is a must for the Proton buyer segment, and I am pretty sure their product team knows this too.

I say,
Not much to comment, but I think the M-Line Manual gear will be a hit among the mass who have big family members because the price will be lower than any other non Malaysian MPV brands. The price will be under RM70k would be an attraction to the big familes.

There you have it folks. Thanks to Paul from http://www.paultan.org. Until then, cheerio!!

The new Proton MPV, Proton Exora Pictures

Ok folks yesterday and for the past few days we have been talking about Proton Exora or Proton Ixora as known previously. I have been keeping this pictures for a few weeks ago, and don't intend to publicise the pictures.

The pictures was actually sourced from paultan.org, by some unknown person, some thought those pictures are leaked pictures by some irresponsible insider. Though it might be some sort of dark promotion by the Proton itself.

I guess some of you might have known paultan.org but a massive numbers of peoples still vague about how Proton Exora looks. So folks, you can either wait for Proton Exora to reach Jaya Jusco for display, go to Proton showroom on March or take a look first. Enjoy!!:)

All pictures credit to paultan.org Thanks Paul!! Your blog rocks!:-)

New Proton MPV ,Proton Ixora is actually Proton Exora

Ok folks, that's not all. When I went to the Proton Showroom yesterday I got some info
regarding the new MPV. Here are some of them : -
    - H-line model comes with leather seat
    - M-Line with normal fabric cover seat
    - both the M-line and High-line model come with Auto transmission
    - both the M-line and High-line have CPS 1600 c.c engine
    - the 1.6 CPS engine have been tune-up so that it will be powerfull enough to carry 7 adult (same like Toyota Avanza tune up the 1.3cc engine)
    - price of the new Proton Exora range from RM 72,000 to RM 78,000.
    - The size of the Proton Exora is larger than Nissan Grand Livina but smaller than
Honda Oddeysey.( mid-size MPV I guess, because Grand Livina and Toyota Avanza are
    considered small/compact MPV)
    - some interesting features that only found in big MPV like Honda, Toyota, BMW and
Volkswagen can be found in the new Proton Exora ( the person gave me one feature . The
signal are touch sensitive - light touch - on and off -and the signal light will
blinks ( these special features only for High-Line only)

Ok folks, there goes some infos I got from the showroom. Below are some news regarding the Proton Exora names and look out for the new MPV display at Jaya Jusco near you!:-)

Proton has issued a response to the public outcry of alleged unfairness in the results of the Proton MPV naming competition. The dissatisfaction is mostly related to the chosen name “Proton Exora”, which its MD Datuk Syed Zainal said was based on the Ixora flower name at the launch event. According to Syed Zainal, “Exora is a flower that blooms in a bunch, so that evokes the spirit of the MPV, which is togetherness. It demonstrates the MPV as a family vehicle and that is why we decided to pick the name.”

In Proton’s statement, it thanked members of the public for highlighting the issues and concerns related to the choice of name and understands the points being made. It clarified that the name “ Proton Exora ” was picked through a vigorous selection process and was chosen because it was not a name for any animal and vegetation although it had similar pronunciation as the flower, Ixora. In fact, there were 139 contest entries submitting the name Proton Ixora, and 39 entries for Proton Exora. The Ixora name was eliminated from the final selection because it was the direct spelling of the name of a flower.

The 39 people who had submitted the winning name had also chosen the name for various other reasons. The winning entry by Miss Norsholihan Bt Abdul Eanich was chosen because of the tagline “Keriangan Keluarga” or family joy. Proton felt the name and tagline represented the company’s effort to offer a vehicle which could offer family togetherness.

The controversial rule in the naming competition stated that an entry “tidak diambil daripada” the name of flora or fauna, but it appears that Proton and contestants had different interpretations of this rule. A lot of contestants who are dissatisfied right now assumed it meant any name related to flora and fauna were disallowed, however Proton’s interpretation was only a direct name of a flora or fauna is disallowed.

What’s done is done and nothing can be changed, but reflecting on the situation, what Proton should have done at the very beginning is clarify what exactly “tidak diambil daripada” meant by giving examples, because in my honest opinion it is obvious to me that Exora is “taken from/diambil daripada” the word Ixora and contestants have every right to be dissatisfied because perhaps if they had known variations or puns on flora/fauna are allowed, they could have let their creativity loose even more and may have come up with an even better name and tagline than Proton Exora.

New Proton MPV is now Proton Ixora

Ok folks, I just listened to the news that the new Proton MPV name is now Proton Ixora. The launching of the new MPV will be held in March. So you might get to see the Proton MPV display at the Jaya Jusco nearby you shortly.
I just listened to the radio news. The actual spelling might be different. The person who named the MPV may got the name from plants or he got the idea from landscaping ,then Ixora in Malay is Bunga Jejarum.
